Calcium Bromide Liquid is used as a completion and workover fluid. It is used widely as a completion fluid and aids in oil drilling. It helps in controlling pressure at the time of creating large holes for drilling, whether for water, natural gas, or oil operations. The compound is versatile and can be used alone or mixed with Calcium Chloride and/or Calcium Bromide to achieve a clear, solids-free fluid over a wide range of densities and temperatures.
Calcium Bromide Powder is dissolved in water to yield completion, workover and packer fluids. Also, it is useful in adjusting the density of fresh or recycled workover, completion and packer brine. It helps in controlling pressure at the time of creating large holes for drilling, whether for water, natural gas, or oil operations.
Potassium Chloride drilling fluids are frequently used for wellbore stability. The potassium ion fits into the silicon tetrahedron matrix of clays and helps hold the structure together to buy more time before water absorption causes the shales to collapse into the wellbore.
Calcium Chloride Prills are made of solid particles of Calcium Chloride containing less than 0.5% water. They have a standard concentration of 96%. In completion and workover fluids, Calcium Chloride provides sufficient density to control formation pressures. In oil-based drilling mud, it functions as a swelling-agent.
Calcium Chloride Powder is utilised as an inhibitor to control dynamic shale and earth-shattering. It may also be utilised in polymer mud to limit the development of gas hydrates. Calcium Chloride Powder prevents clays from absorbing liquids and disintegrating. It is suitable for fluid systems which require pressure densities from 8.4 to 11.8 lb/gal. It also reduces the breakup of large salt sections and salt stringers, as these could become a risk to drilling.
Sodium Chloride is used as a base brine for completion and workover fluids. It is used for increasing drilling fluids density, increasing shale inhibition by decreasing water activity, reducing the freezing point of water-base fluids and reducing the potential of forming gas hydrates.
